Thames Launch	The word 'Launch' originally referred to the largest boat carried aboard a sailing ship. Today it is used to describe several types of  larger powered vessel. Particularly on the river Thames, because the 'Thames Conservancy act' used it as a legal definition separate from 'Boat' for charging fees to use the river.
